Jason Brennan

Personally and professionally curious. This site is here for me to pull threads and express what I learn.

Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate the time you’ve taken to learn with me.

My Personal Story

Hi, I’m Jason Brennan, and this is my personal site. I’m using it to share my thoughts, research, and learnings. I am a constant student, explorer, and teacher. It’s always been part of my personal passion to share what I learn and make it as useful as possible. That is my guiding principle here.

Being a student means that I’m always learning. I call it pulling new threads. Curiosity may have killed the cat, but its been a constant friend and benefactor for me. Learning is my first passion.

Curiosity also led me to explore. I like to disappear into nowhere, camping, hiking, and testing my limits in the back country with the trees, the sky, and sometimes my dogs. I feel the same thrill exploring ideas, new techniques, and testing something I know from one context in another.

As a teacher, I love to take what I discover and make it easy for someone else to learn. Analogy, metaphor, and story telling take my curiosity and allow me to share it.

These themes are a part of me, and a part of my blog. They’re also a part of my professional context. Focussed on software implementation and customer success I learn constantly, explore cutting edge technology, and teach it to my clients.

I hope you enjoy my thoughts.

Welcome to Jason’s Living Room.

My Professional Story

I’m a leader in the software industry with a passion for streamlining processes and empowering teams to reach their full potential. With over a decade of experience, I have a proven track record of success for my teams and my clients. From sale to implementation, training, and ongoing support I excel at understanding customer needs and delivering a great experience.

One of the first projects I worked on required me to assess the needs of every department in a manufacturer. I instantly fell in love with software. I learned to speak the languages of business and data, and how everything connects. I was fascinated by the ways that software can connect all the moving pieces on all the separate teams.

At the same time I lived the frustration of trying to implement new software. The process is complex, the training is mediocre, and support teams struggle to help. I learned that software projects have a lot of moving pieces BUT it’s also possible to organize them well.

I quickly moved from being a customer to the other side of the project. I started to work on delivering software to clients. I loved being able to use my experience as a customer to deliver better client experiences.

I also have a background in adult education. One of the biggest gaps in the software industry today is training! Training is seen as a waste of time by clients and vendors alike. I think that mastering training has allowed me to provide a valuable service in a space that many software providers neglect or mishandle.

All together, these skills have allowed me to lead the teams that deliver great solutions, both custom and out of the box. I have a track record of delivering value to customers and in return increasing revenue for my organizations.

I’m a passionate and excited learner in all the things I do. I love to apply this curiosity to learning the needs of my clients, and finding them a solution, delivering it, and ensuring their ongoing success.
